“We’re going to work hard, train hard, do things right. They're going to be accountable and dependable. There's no other way around that to be successful. But I'm going to enjoy coaching them. They're going to enjoy playing for us. They're going to enjoy being a part of this Kentucky family.”

– Mark Stoops, who has had tremendous success in coaching collegiate players and sending many of them to the National Football League

There are a lot of ways that fans, media members, fellow coaches and national pundits have described UK coach Mark Stoops -- from talented recruiter to relentless worker to motivator of players, but another title that has great evidence is developer of talent.

Since 2001, a total of 27 players have been selected in the NFL Draft under Stoops’ tutelage, including 12 first-round selections. He helped nine players reach their NFL aspirations while defensive backs coach at Miami (Fla.), before guiding five players to the NFL during his time as defensive coordinator at Arizona.

Most impressively, Stoops developed 13 NFL Draft picks in his three seasons as defensive coordinator at Florida State, including a remarkable seven players in the 2013 draft alone. Two players, Bjoern Werner and Xavier Rhodes, were each selected in the first round of the  ’13 draft.

Not only has Stoops helped develop the players for the NFL, but many have succeeded immediately. The 27 players listed to the right on this page have combined for 10 All-Pro honors, 15 Pro Bowl selections and three Super Bowl rings.
